As we all know, the majority of the assets for our bosses/presidents came over from The Third and while the materials were certainly updated, some of the textures definitely did also receive the same treatment as well. So recently, with that in mind while I was working away on a character, the thought of backporting those textures sprung up about from thinking about the upgraded textures about not long after. "If there are mods that ports the new hairstyles and clothes —vehicles even too— from IV and GOOH to SR3, there should then be a mod or more than one that have attempted to bring over the upgraded textures, right?", so I've thought to myself just prior to spending about two days now trying to achieve that on my own with nothing to show for it, but wasted time so far and a wavering curiosity to go with it as time goes on.
So I ask, has anyone ever attempted to backport SR4's upgraded textures for our characters? Regardless of whether or not if it turns out I am the only one so far, I'll elaborate later on what is so far deemed to me as a failed attempt of well... just retexturing in general, all to just to see how the SR3 rendition of the boss looks with the newer textures above all, how potentially different my attempt may turn out to be yet from any other possible ones should I be able to resolve my issues, and to see if there's really any way to fix those issues as with the way things are right now, I am VERY stumped and have no idea how I could possibly fix them.
UPDATE:
In the meantime while I am working out my issues, here is a comparison between SR3's default male diffuse texture and SR4's:
And here is the same thing, but with the normal map for the 'ideal' body type:
As y'all can tell from looking at the gif's I've made, the biggest differences are that SR4 has baked shading on its diffuse texture and the normal map has its face redone and looking more defined than in SR3.
UPDATE 2:
As I've said below, I've found that F13 —creator of Super Ethical Patch and several other mods— had ported a few NPC textures and attempted to do the SR4 t-shirt as well (and seemed to have went nowhere for the time being.) Alongside that, I figured out that I needed to create a command batch within Gibbed's root and set it up as per Mike had written in his modding basics guide. So now with no more hanging and the boss looking better than ever, I am currently have moved onto doing the clothing as we speak. Stay tuned for more...
