NPC Editing - A Comprehensive Guide

hey I was wondering when your playing as an npc why don’t there eyes blink and There facial expressions don’t change while doing different actions like our regular character creations? is there a way to fix that?
I have no idea. There is usually a <Min_Blink> and <Max_Blink> inside Character files (npc_name_cha.xtbl), but they don't actually do anything.

I can't say for sure how their facial morphs were made, but their textures and normal maps are certainly unique to them.
In player_creation.xtbl, there are morph keys for their morph presets ("morph keys" being the morphs at either end of a slider. eg: Skinny to Fat). (I meant to see if I could get those to work for the Playa, but forgot all about it.) So I would imagine they were made with the same system as everyone else. But who knows? 🤔

Edit: I've since tested the Story Character Morph Keys, but couldn't get them to work.
I know this is old but I think the story character's don't use Morph Keys; their heads are models made in 3DS Max and attached to the same body so the head would have to be edited via an external model editing software. The body is the same however, they use the same body that has morph keys, if you found some way to edit the morph keys to make the character fatter, the head would not change but the body would.

Thanks for the reply and do you think that you would know anyone else that could help with this ?
Not at the moment. Maybe someone will see your question in future though and look into it.

Interesting. Admittedly, I don't know too much about actual 3D modelling (tried Blender, bought a real doughnut instead).

You should look into this old project of mine. The leftover Morph_Keys don't work, but the fact that they're there suggests they were used to build story characters, at least partially. For example; There's a Morph_Key for the angle of Shogo's glasses which he wears above his head, and the shape of Shaundi's breasts is not achievable via the final release Morph_Keys in Player Creation.

It is interesting though that the facial Morph_Keys don't work with those body meshes. They have a default facial morph that can't be changed.
