It's no secret that Saints Row IV is pretty much its predecessor, but with super powers and aliens. Strip it of what makes IV oh so different from The Third and you get exactly that, albeit just with improved visuals AND assets here and there. Go even further with the stripping and you'd end back up with The Third how it was previously; with a boss that could look more desirable in some aspects and a Kinzie that looks WILDLY different from how she looked in IV for two...

That's why I'd like to present the Super Ethical Pentagon Backport project!​

Super Ethical Pentagon Backport is a project that doesn't just backport the upgraded textures for the boss, but also backports the textures and materials for the NPCs as well. Ain't nothing wrong with wanting to look good while making your mark in Steelport.

CHANGES:​

• Backported the SR4 player's body textures, color pools, and face preset for the Caucasian male boss.
• Backported all of the currently known upgraded clothing, even those with tweaked materials.
• Backported a wide variety of NPC assets for the following characters: Matt Miller, Johnny, Shaundi, Josh Birk, Pete (added in v1.1), and Kinzie
• Also backported all of the common map textures used throughout Steelport.
• Edited a few NPC textures: Kinzie's head diffuse is now 1024x opposed to 512x, same treatment was given to Viola's default legs and the Saints variation of her torso, and elements of Pierce's SR3 head texture onto the SR4 head texture.
• Modified the homie renders to use Shaundi, Kinzie, and Johnny's SR4 renders while Pierce's SR3 render was edited to look SR4-like.

• [OPTIONAL] Gat's GOOH Face: Modifies Johnny's SR3/SR4 head diffuse to have his GOOH face (more accurately his light stubble and yellower-looking skintone) over it.

• [OPTIONAL] Planet Saints Green Screen Background Replacement: Simply just retextures the Planet Saints background to be green. It's not entirely green, but it is what it is imo.

KNOWN ISSUES:​

  • Shaundi and Matt (excluding their respective sci-fi variants) both have rig incompatibilities resulting in the malformities as seen above. FIXED!
  • GiS Shaundi's pony tail is red. (even though it's also present in vanilla.)
  • Shaundi and Johnny's icons are off centered. FIXED(?)
  • The Logo on the Gym Pants is kind of broken. (Currently do not know how to fix.)
  • The fabric part of the Saints Briefs still has its grainy texture.
  • HD Map Textures: The weeds found throughout the map are missing.

INSTALLATION:​

1. Download the attached zipped folder
2. Extract anywhere on your machine
3. Copy and paste the contents inside the 'files' folder of your choice to your root folder:

A loose option for the customize_player files is also included as well for those that wish to modify them or mix and match. I highly recommend going with this if you have a mod or two that messes with anything inside the customize_player files. That and Viper's ASM updater as well.

• The biker leather jackets now have their SR4 color palettes.
• Added SR4-ified modifications to Pierce (Made the majority of edits myself, but still used Slick's edit for mainly just the beard) and his Aisha getup from the Trouble with Clones DLC. Also is now included. :)

❖ — v1.4 — ❖
• Overhauled the common map textures with SR4's; roads, trees, bus stops, etc.
• Fixed the female version of the "Ripple Junction 3rd Street;" somehow forgot to copy and paste the female SR4 shirt files over this particular shirt's mesh files.
• Modified all shirts with logos so that they use "logo shirt" meshes instead of "logo-less" shirt files, resulting in the logos looking more better.

❖ — v1.5 — ❖​
  • Redid Kinzie's head texture with a somewhat different method. (Shouldn't look any different from how she did previously within the mod.)
  • Slightly lowered the brightness of Pierce's skin on his body. Should hopefully hide up the neck seam all the bit more.
  • Overhauled the playa's assortment of eye textures with Kinzie's SR4 eye texture as the base for them all; including references from Shaundi, Asha, Ben King, etc for some of them. (Even though they more or less mostly look unchanged around the board, I think they're more nicer looking and natural as well.)
  • Added the packed version of the mod; anyone called for some decluttering?
  • Added two new optionals: "OG Eye Textures" and "HD Map Textures."
  • Removed the HD map textures from the main mod; noticed that the game gets funky after sometime and alas, I made this decision as a pre-caution in case if they really did hit the memory limits after all.

Released v1.2; color pools, mugshot overhauls, and upgraded clothing items galore! Honestly, I didn't really think I'd get THIS far into this but alas, I have. To the extent that I have now finally learnt how not just to replace NPC meshes and rigs properly, but also clothing meshes too.

If you look closely at the image above and compare the two, the updated mesh for the 21st century jeans looks more refined and less stocky. Not much of a noticeable difference, but it does look nicer than the OG mesh. Also on the same topic, I'll go ahead and leave y'all with a teaser for what v1.3 will entail. For the time being, be sure to check out the changelog for what changed with v1.2 and hope y'all like the new update!

Released v1.4; the common map textures have been overhauled and the tees should now be up to snuff. Noticed that I had somehow forgotten to replace the mesh files for the "Ripple Junction 3rd Street" tee, resulting in a visually broken shirt. And that's not as the mod is now on Nexus as well! Pretty cool stuff, I'd say.

Anyway, I should sleep now as I have pretty much stayed up until 5 in the morning to work the rest of this update out on top of creating the Nexus page.

Released v1.5: my final update (for now.) I feel it's complete enough to consider being done with currently as is. If I could however do more with it, I'd also port over some of the skyboxes and the VFX as well. Maybe even perhaps give the SR3-exclusive clothes an upgrade like so:

Thank you! This whole mod is truly remarkable and has become one of the most necessary mods to use in my game. I hope with spreading this around that it inspires others to perhaps start using it as well, maybe even add on top of it in their own way.
