SPOILERS Saints Row (2022) official info

"It's not easy to make interiors"?

So there's literally no one left from the SR & SR2 era working on this game then? Because Stilwater was the most open door city in the entire Saints Row franchise.

Steelport kept most of their doors closed to Playa and the Saints...

New Hades was a f***ing awesome design, but they missed a huge opportunity by keeping that Cathedral's doors locked. That would have made an amazing Crib.

Then Santo Ileso is great visually, but the only buildings you can actually enter in freeroam, is the Church, the Apartment, a few Bars, and... That's it. Because Stores don't count, as they are purposefully designed to be entered for the purpose of purchasing clothes/guns/etc.

Without randomly explorable building interiors to find in the open world, then what purpose is there to explore?

"Ooh, that's a nice looking casino, let's go check it out... Oh... It's just a façade, nevermind then."

The developer put hours of time and effort into something I see for 5 seconds while driving past because there's no reason to stop and get out of my car if I can't enter the building.

So this "
FuPYI1fWcAIDmuC
" will go completely unnoticed by me if there's no reason at all to interact with it.

In fact, if there's not a single enterable building (excluding Stores, Cribs, & Ventures) in this new district, then I'd rather they have put effort into making Santo Ileso's existing buildings enterable, rather than adding more unenterable buildings to this literal desert "wasteland".
As I am aware, this tendency with the so much lack of enterable buildings is actually being present since Saints Row IV, as the last game that has cribs and plenty of interiors was Saints Row The Third. Both Saints Row IV and its expansion Gat Out Of Hell has maybe somewhat like only 2-3 enterable buildings on their whole maps.

There's a few actually good things on Saints Row 2022 that seems to be completely ignored by majority of people that gives that unexplainable hate to the game.
1. It has actually much more weapons than any of the previous games, also pretty much the majority of them also has an "Ultimate Upgrade" like it was in Saints Row IV (Re-Elected) / Saints Row Gat Out of Hell! Actually the only difference is, that in Saints Row 2022 weapons' Ultimate Upgrades are being unlocked via doing a specific kill task unlike Saints Row IV and Saints Row Gat Out of Hell where weapons' Ultimate Upgrades are rather being purchased with Cache / Wages in Friendly Fire stores (Saints Row IV) / Sinterpol Armory kiosks (Saints Row Gat Out of Hell).
2. Saints Row 2022 has a actually much better clothing and vehicle customization than previous Saints Row games, and unlike Saints Row Gat Out of Hell where if you're remembered there was no clothing customization and you where forced to play only as Gat or Kinzie and not as the Boss, separately there was actually a small selection of clothing accessible via modding, however it is in fact actually being only a leftovers from Saints Row IV (as majority of it being removed completely), and some of items on the Planet Zin clothes menu that could not be accessed the normal way only has its entries but their actual models / meshes appeared to be has removed which result the game to instantly crash to desktop upon selecting them. Also unlike Saints Row 2022, Gat Out of Hell also lacked any sort of a vehicle customization, as there was leftovers of Rim Jobs but it's was completely non-functional.
3. Homies are back, unlike Saints Row Gat Gat Out of Hell that totally lacked any possibly of any followers in freeroam in the vanilla game, however for unknown reasons, you could still NOT CAN recruit any street crew Saints member, and still only (and ONLY!) Kevin, Eli and Neenah, and only these three as a group, not separately! Here I am gonna really agree with other people - here Volition was really held back in that aspect, after the awesome non-hostile homies in Saints Row 2 and the Super Homies in Saints Row IV using their Super Powers to defeat Zins! In previous main games, there was somewhat like 7-8 homies you could call in Saints Row 2, and a LEAST 12-15 homies being available in Saints Row IV and Saints Row The Third.
4. The last positive, is that in Saints Row 2022 like Volition was announced, will be map DLC! For comparison, in Saints Row The Third and Saints Row IV, pretty much every DLC released were either clothing, weapons, homies and missions only, but there was no any DLCs that adds a new map areas being released for any of the previous Saints Row games.

"Ah shit, here we go again."

Just moving around in SR4 and GooH creates so much destruction that even if you wanted to, it's almost impossible to take a break from the mayhem and enjoy the small details of the world. These two games are not designed around slowly exploring small intricately detailed areas, so the fact that they don't have any interiors isn't as jarring. In SRR however, you're not moving at the speed of sound anymore so you would expect some opportunities to explore and get immersed in the world, like in the older games. And doubly so because they advertised the setting of Santo Ileso as being worth exploring, pre-release.

Yes the weapon variety and customization options are welcome additions, however they don't make up for the fact that :
-all of the two handed firearms share the same animation
-all of the melee weapons share the same animation
-there are no melee combos, and even if the special melee moves from SR3 and 4 kinda came back, they have been heavily restricted
-you can't take human shields, and therefore you can't throw people either
Having good looking guns doesn't mean jackshit if the combat isn't fun.

So basically what you're trying to say is that you've never played either SR1 or 2, right?

Yes the vehicle customization in this game is great, however investing time in it just isn't worth it as the driving fucking sucks. Every car you get into in this game gains infinite kinetic energy, which makes it feel like you're playing Traffic Attack in Burnout Revenge. There is no penalty for crashing into traffic at all. I don't think I've ever seen a more dumbed down driving system in any other game except maybe Watch Dogs.

At least we can agree on that.

Yes, the new district looks cool and having smaller towns around the main one is a good concept that even reminds me of GTA San Andreas. But they really should have spent this time on improving what was already there, instead of adding more more bland content.

TL;DR
For every step forward the reboot takes, it also takes 2 to 3 steps backwards. Also if you're only willing to compare this game to SR4 and GooH you need to raise your fucking standards.

Just a reminder: GOOH is a standalone DLC to SR4 so comparing a full game to a DLC is very... interesting.

I actually liked driving cars in the reboot. Handling is very AOM-ish but it's good actually compared to previous games imo.

@L'Andromada, actually I still think Volition still makes Reboot 2022 somewhat better than for example, what Rockstar Games are doing with their Grand Theft Auto V. Saints Row 2022 (the reboot) is least getting DLC available for both Single Player and Co-Op! For comparison, on GTA V, only DLCs released for PC version in 2015 that was also released on original PS3 / XBOX 360 versions, was also released for Single Player Story Mode players along with its multiplayer GTA Online. Around 2016, when Rockstar stopped DLC support for XBOX 360 / PS3 versions of GTA V, and started releasing DLC for PS4 and XBOX One consoles (and recently then for PS5 and XBOX Series S / X), they completely discarded Single Player fans, all DLCs since then were only released for GTA V's Multiplayer GTA Online that is completely UNMODDABLE! Single Player fans just stopped getting any DLC weapons / cars / newly map interiors, even worse, on one on later versions Rockstar added a nasty script that DELETES any GTA Online vehicle ensuring they cannot be spawned and used by players playing Single Player Story Mode in any way. In recent years, Rockstar's parent company - Take Two likes to taking down various mods for GTA series, mainly custom map mods. Several popular map mods has been successfully taken down and nobody is being able to download and play them anymore.

Saints Row 2022 (Reboot) is least NOT suffering any of these issues and basically ALL DLCs released by Volition, are fully available in Single Player of Saints Row 2022, and even though the game itself to still has some minor issues, there isn't that bullshit any of its DLCs content to be available only online... Also, I found one of the options of Boss' customization clothing is being ability to wear prosthetics instead of normal hand / leg, as well as some sci-fi weapons being available also. In these aspects Saints Row Reboot seems to be somewhat identical with one of CD Project Red's games that is currently being pretty popular - Cyberpunk 2077.
