NPC Model Swap assistance

I still don't understand how a process that should take no more than just a few minutes, is taking me days.

If people are telling me exactly what to do, how is it still going wrong. I wish I had someone literally looking over my shoulder. Then they could stop me as soon as they spot where I'm about to go wrong. Instead I'm just trying my best to follow words on a screen, then reporting back after something's already gone wrong. And because I can't get pictures of what the problem is, they can only guess, when it comes to helping me figure it out.
It is not you. You're not the problem. I promise you, the more you work with this, you'll find the solution; however, it is a very frustrating process and that's why I don't think you're the problem.

This is what I have in the two Ella str2 folders. Which were Lin's but I've renamed them.

The two Ella str2 files at the bottom are the repacked versions of the extracted Ella str2 folders

But I must have missed something, because when I transfer the two Ella str2 files to the SRTT Root Directory, it causes Clubber 7 (Aka Ella (Aka Lin)) to become invisible. Then when playing a mission, it causes lots of other NPCs, props, scenery, and even structures to become one with the void.

Edit:
And when trying this method...

Which I can only assume means this.

1769564578452.png (With this also being moved to the SRTT Root Directory, of course)

It just crashes the game before I can even reach the main menu.

So if I've followed both of these methods correctly, but neither of them have worked, and nobody knows how to fix it, then I've hit a dead end... Right? Because if the people who regularly use these modding tools don't have a solution to these problems, then me and my two brain cells have no chance of solving them.

Ok, so this is someone else's mod that replaces Shaundi with Lin. I'm aware they've used custom textures, Homie Icon, as well as various other extra details that I'm not gonna torture myself with trying to attempt to learn... Yet.

For now I only want to know which files were absolutely 100% necessary to get Lin's model to replace Shaundi's model, without turning her invisible, or sending her to the void, or making the game just crash altogether.

So I did some "troublshooting" (I think is the right word) of my own. I started by just copying over the 4 str2 files, had the exact same invisibility and void issues mentioned above... So then I decided to copy over the one other file in this folder... The one highlighted in red... And guess what... Lin fully replaced Shaundi... No invisibility, no voids, no crashes...

What is this magic little file? And how do I use it to get Lin, Donnie, Fun Shaundi, and the Stilwater Gangs into SRTT?

I've done as much testing with the ASM_Updater and the the other method as I can. It's late, my brain hurts, and I'm about one more loading error away from walking up to Gat's face and mocking him about Aisha's death. Goodnight. I may come back to this after I've had some sleep.

Asm containers are kind of like preloads for each packfile vpp. They define what items/characters/animations are in the game yet they can't be altered through typical means like .tbls can
EDIT: Pretty much, you could just use the same asm for the other characters unless they are DLC characters.

Ok, I'm out. This is clearly way beyond my capabilities. The best I can do is create invisible npcs that turn the world into a void. The asm file is completely useless (apparently), and once again I prove that despite my best efforts, I evidently cannot follow instructions, no matter how clear they are.

All of this is not worth the autistic meltdown I'm about to have.

This is so stupid, but it gets across what I'm trying to do. The custom textured Lin model that replaces Shaundi's model is now replacing Ella's model, so with no other Shaundi model available, Space Shaundi now replaces all 3 Shaundi models. Loading screens are now 3x longer than normal (Including just taking an elevator from the penthouse to the garage), and the game runs so badly... But yeah. This is as close as I can get.

Shame I can't get Donnie, Fun Shaundi, and the Stilwater Gangs, but whatever... The fact that so many of you have made model swap mods, in such short time with seemingly none of the problems I'm having, makes me question if you have better tools or even access to the official source code, because none of the tools on this site seem to be doing me any good.

Sorry to sound like an a-hole, but I am so sick of running around in circles making small progress, only to be sent back to square 1.

I completely get it. It's not your fault. I would do this for you since I use to port models between these versions a while back, but I haven't completed SRTT at all. The best way I can explain to fix the loading times (I believe) is to pack the mods you have into a VPP_PC instead of having them crowd your main directory. This will trick the game into believing that mod is a part of the game.

Yeah, I don't really want to use my crappy plan B anyway, because I'd rather Shaundi not be in a spacesuit for the entire game. Plus this only works for Lin, my full mod is supposed to have Donnie, Dex, Fun Shaundi (over Shaundi), as well as the Stilwater Gangs and Masako. So I'm just done. If I didn't have a full time job, I'd probably have more time and maybe a little extra patience to figure out how to do everything properly, but as it is, I'm getting extremely frustrated with nothing working like it's supposed to.

I'm not good with words or phrasing, so I'll just have to say this next part the only way I can think to, and hope it doesn't offend anybody, because that's not my intent...

SR has an entire modding community that regularly visits this very site to check out mods, upload their own mods... And even request help with making mods...

Yet you seem to be the only person available to try and help me. Which makes me think that nobody has ever had the problems I'm having, so they don't know how to help me. Because if there was a known solution to this problem, someone would have mentioned it by now.
