When I place the mod in main dir(not mods folder),the game freezes.Using GOG version of the game.

Same issue here, hangs after the intro videos.

the game stops working in the intro screen the moment i install this mod.

Wait..So which area do I put the files in to, in order for the mod to work? The regular directory, or the packfiles folder? When I put it in the regular directory, the game just froze and crash

Should be regular directory (with SaintsRowIV.exe). I'm assuming it doesn't work on Re-Elected version, For steam try reverting to legacy_stable from games list > right click > Properties > Betas > select it.
