Installing GotR using Juiced v7.1.0 or later (for beginners)

PRELUDE:
Juiced Patch v7.1.0 revolutionised the way mods are installed for Saints Row 2. Installing mods is now as simple as dropping files into the "mods" folder. However, some older mods were built specifically with Gentlemen Of The Row in mind.

GotR was not only a collection of mods, but also for a long time was the main method of installing mods into the game, by inserting files into, then rebuilding, "patch.vpp_pc" via a batch file ("Create_Custom_GotR_v1.9.2.bat").

This worked well for a long time, but now some complications can arise from using GotR's patch builder alongside Juiced v7.1.0's (and later) loose "mods" folder system.

So this guide will show you the preferred way to install GotR without using it's patch builder for the best results and ease of mod management with Juiced Patch v7.1.0 and later.

HOW TO INSTALL GotR via JUICED v7.1.0 OR LATER:
1.
Make sure the "patch.vpp_pc" in your Saints Row 2 root directory (where SR2_pc.exe is located) is the unmodified version which gets installed with the game.

2. Create a new Folder inside the "mods" folder in your Saints Row 2 root directory. Name it "GotR".

3. Create another new Folder inside the "GotR" folder you just created in your Saints Row 2 root directory. Name it "Optional".

4. Add the following 2 lines to the BOTTOM of "loose.txt" in your Saints Row 2 root directory:
mods/GotR/Optional
mods/GotR

5. You will find all of GotR's base modified files in the following folder: "Gentlemen_of_the_Row_Saints_Row_2_Super_Mod_v1.9.2\optional_mod_stuff\modified"
COPY ALL of those files, and PASTE them into the "GotR" folder you just created.

6. COPY "preload.tbl" and "preload_anim.tbl" from:
"Gentlemen_of_the_Row_Saints_Row_2_Super_Mod_v1.9.2\optional_mod_stuff".
PASTE both files into the "GotR" folder you created.

7. Browse "Gentlemen_of_the_Row_Saints_Row_2_Super_Mod_v1.9.2\optional_mod_stuff\optional_mods" for any Optional GotR mod files you may want to use. COPY them into the "Optional" folder you created.

8. Launch Saints Row 2, and enjoy Gentlemen Of The Row with all the benefits of Juiced Patch!

Hi there!

Since doing this, suddenly a good few weapons seem to be invisible and non-functional, and the polish sword taunt seems to be broken - any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Whoops, I forgot about that step. I've updated the instructions. (Still a beginner myself!)

Hi this isn't seeming to work for me. It crashes whenever I hit exit on the GotR intro message. Any tips? I am new to modding Saints Row 2
Hi, Does it say you need a gotr.txt? If so, you need to create that text file.
From Steam Library, right click SR2 game on left pane > Manage > Browse Local files...

Then create a text document:

Name it gotr.txt (or just gotr if you don't have file extensions enabled - you can enable them by pressing Alt > V > H F in explorer)

Then try opening the game again. The message should no longer appear.

This "crash" is there to make people realize that GOTR doesn't really make the game more stable, and to avoid people blaming Juiced Patch on their discord in the case it does crash more

THANK YOU! That did it! I did not realize I needed to make a text document labeled that. I thought I had missed something in installation or something. Once again thanks!
