far camera only vehicles? +question

is there a mod only for farther camera on vehicles and not on the character?
if so and its not a big bother id like to be directed to it ^-^

and i have no idea where i should ask questions about modding but, where can i find the mesh(graphic models) of characters, do i need a special tools to mess with them/extract them?

I thought I'd try to do this as I've managed to alter the z distance I wanted for the character when indoors and outdoors.
Just spent about 30 minutes trying to alter sections I found in camera_free.xtbl related to vehicles and am having NO luck.
Values I plug in appear to not take effect. I'm stumped for now. Must be another xtbl that alters this.

The sections I was fooling with look like this (and for vehicles there were a lot more subsections than for other camera modes _

z_dist i tried and didn't see any change. Tried altering other values in that subsection and a few others by same general title.

Maybe someone else can help chime in.
I would like a greater follow distance on vehicle cameras as well.

As for your query on the texture tools someone has posted some progress on this in the tools section but my understanding
is very weak in this area. I dont think anyone has the ability yet to mesh any altered textures back into the game.

You can absolutely edit/replace textures in the game with the current tools from scanti. We just don't have tools to change the model itself.

vehicle_cameras.xtbl is the file you're after.

I extracted that and am seeing it appears each vehicle type has to be edited.
Whew, this will be a lot oh work but now I know where to start. It appears
perhaps 'Follow Distance' under Primary_Camera_Angle will be the place to start.

I'll probabliy just tweak the few common vehicles I tend to bug about in.
If it doesn't get too screwed up I'll post what I did in another thread. No timeline, I'm a chimp I get distracted by bananas n stuff.
 
YAY thank you ! :D hey that xtbl doesn't realy look as hard to grasp as hex.. and iv tried that before :eek: im gonna eye some files now good luck with the camera :D
 
Nah, if a chimp can read it anyone can.
I only ended up dabbling with the follow distance on my favorite tank, the Challenger, from 12.5 to 15
and that worked. There was some vertical adjustment setting there in that same section too that I did
not mess with. I can only presume that is the 'starting point' for when you rotate the camera down to
be in parallel plane with the hood of the vehicle.
There is another table (I can't think of the exact name now, vehicle something I think) that helps one puzzle
out names to match with codes they use for various vehicles.
 
umm im not realy good with all this technical stuff.. but can u clear out wich files excecly you were messing around with and are all the camera settings in one file? or.. where are those specific xtbl excecly?

It is easy to get the xtbls to edit (there is a bunch in the game ) by following helpful post by Idol Ninja in the Tutorials section of the forum.
Gibs tools is needed and the latest version that is being updated by MiniMaul is listed I think in the Tools section.

In the meantime I'll post my copy of the vehicle_cameara.xtble I have here that is unaltered.
Notepad or something similar to edit.
(recommend notepad++ its great)
