SR2 Saints Row 2 Mega Patch isn't coming... but

Idol confirmed that work is progressing as normal despite covid. There's just a lot of work to be done. I wouldn't expect the patch before the end of summer at this point. That way if it comes out next week we can be excited all over again.

SuperUI for SR2 v2.9 (No exit prompts in menus, HUD enhancements, better Weapons Cache & More!)

I didn't before, but seems to have done the trick! Weird that it was never an issue until now.

SuperUI for SR2 v2.9 (No exit prompts in menus, HUD enhancements, better Weapons Cache & More!)

FYI the new update seems to break the 360 controller prompts in GOTR. In my garage and weapons cache menus, the X button is replaced by the Space Bar prompt.

SR2 Saints Row 2 Mega Patch isn't coming... but

The GOG version is supposedly the same as Steam's, except Steamworks is ripped out and a framerate limiter is applied. I would be shocked if it doesn't eventually get the same treatment once the Steam patch is released.

SR2 Saints Row 2 Mega Patch isn't coming... but

I believe Idol mentioned on stream that most mods will still work, but I would assume it will depend on what the mod changes and whether or not the patch affects the same things. Like if any changes are made to the UI to compensate for the new graphical settings like ultrawide or increased draw...

SR2 Saints Row 2 Mega Patch isn't coming... but

The GOG version is basically the Steam version with Steamworks stripped out and a frame rate limiter slapped on. Once the patch is out, it's entirely possible they could apply it to GOG too, so don't lose hope.

SR2 Saints Row 2 Mega Patch isn't coming... but

Any chance of a retrospective after the patch is out, like maybe posting some of the glitches you guys encountered while fixing stuff? I know Minimaul mentioned the bug where NPCs legs would spin.

SR2 Saints Row 2 Mega Patch isn't coming... but

Different branch. IIRC they were called CD Projekt Black.

SR2 Saints Row 2 Mega Patch isn't coming... but

It's my understanding that the GoG version is essentially the same as the Steam version, so it's entirely possible that an update for GoG could happen in the future once this patch is released.

IdolNinja: "Sometimes miracles actually do happen."

The way it's phrased, it sounds like he means his request to reveal a bit of info was shot down, not the miracle itself. It just means we'll have to wait longer.

IdolNinja: "Sometimes miracles actually do happen."

Honestly, THQ Nordic remastering a fucking Spongebob Squarepants game of all things means a SR remaster of some kind is suddenly plausible if their endless supply of money is footing the bill. A SR2 remaster/patch would certainly be a miracle after how adamant Idol was about it never happening.

    SR:TT beta build from 2009

It's so weird how Shaundi's design appears to be the only one that was changed super late. A long time ago, somebody took a picture at Volition's office and that same design was visible on a cardboard standee in the background.

    THQ Nordic acquires Koch Media

Unfortunately SR1 and 2 remasters likely won't happen because, from IdolNinja himself, it would require them to rebuild the engine from the ground up, which isn't economically viable. Flippy sums it up in this video. We're best off hoping that SR5 looks more to SR1 and 2 for inspiration than...

    Saints Row V

Of course, but SR4 was getting shit for it the moment it was shown off. We didn't know yet that they had reduced Steelport even more, but people were still complaining that Volition dared to do another game in the same city with the same graphics, despite SR2 showing it could be done well.

    Saints Row V

In the eyes of the average consumer (see: idiots), if everything isn't new, it's lazy or cheap. SR4 was called SR3.5 before it was even out for people to (somewhat-accurately) come to that conclusion solely because it reused the same graphics as 3. Hopefully now that THQ Nordic owns...

That would be old THQ. According to Volition themselves during a stream, Armageddon was a victim of executive meddling.

I'd be on board with a Saints Row reboot that takes place in a Stilwater expanded beyond SR2 era. Maybe in this universe the Boss first joins the Saints years after the SR2 gangs and Ultor have entered the city, so you have 6 gangs + Ultor to defeat.

    THQ Nordic acquires Koch Media

yeah, that's why I'm hoping that, somehow, Nordic got a hold of the source code when they bought the remainder of THQ. A long shot sure, but it's nice to dream.

I feel like the time spent completely remaking it could instead be spent on just making sure SR5 is an equally good but new experience. It'd be cool if Nordic could give the same care to SR2 that they did with Red Faction Guerilla's Steam update, though.

Supposedly the CEO is really loaded, and given the company's original goal of selling used games and comic books in the 90s, it seems like he's not exactly a faceless CEO with no interest in gaming that will run the company into the ground and then get a golden parachute. That's a stark contrast...
