SRIV Sweet FX and stuff like that is it illegal?

I'm not sure but it looks nice therefore i want test it ingame but i dunno if it's ok or not. I've this game on steam.
 
It's not illegal in common law as far as I know but it could be argued that it breaks the game's EULA. However the EULA seems to prohibit any modification of the game and that includes all the mods on this site. :D (It depends if "The program" includes any game data or just means the executable code).

Volition and Deep Silver probably take the, "I see no ships", approach to stuff like this and as such can't really comment on your question.

I'm sure if anyone oversteps the line one of the moderators will have a quiet word with them.
 
You will get no straight answer. As far as i'm aware, no court in the US has ever decided on whether a rendering injection like that, or mod files like ours, count as "altering" a program. And even if they had, you could still be sued or whatever; you'd at best eventually (after years of attorney fees) get a declaration that you're in the clear.

But nobody cares about it nearly enough for that to happen. Try your Sweet FX if you want.
