Saints Row Prequel in pitching phase (Saints Row '77)

Project seems to be canned, according to this message sent my Chris Stockman in Kobraworks Discord server. Seems like the idea now is a spiritual successor to original Saints Row's Multiplayer.

I'm a single player guy, so this is sad to hear. But I can understand how a multiplayer project would be more affordable to make. At least it would be something, and at least someone's still trying.
Honestly? For all we know, it could be a multiplayer game with a singleplayer as a lesser focus. I'm hoping at, the very least, they provide a story as great as Saints Row 2 or even the original Saints Row as those games were the most well received in the franchise. If this is true, I hope the customization isn't like the reboot or Saints Row the third+. Saints Row 2 had the greatest customization but the models for the clothing were no where near the bagginess and hip hop style of the first game. Could just be nostalgia talking though.

COD, Halo, Fortnite, Minecraft, GTA Online, Day Z, REPO, Fall Guys, Roblox, Among Us, GMOD... I could keep going.

The point is, there's already so many multiplayer games out there, and these days they're all starting to follow the same format.

I like Saints Row because it's a franchise I can sit back, relax and play solo when I want a break from grinding out public matches against people who've never seen real sunlight, all to earn a golden toilet plunger.

Classic Saints Row was known for it's story telling, attention to detail, and vast amounts of customization, not just for your character, but your vehicles, cribs, gang, and in some cases, even the city will see changes throughout the story. That's the Saints Row I think of whenever I'm reminded of the franchise, and I'd rather not see it blend into the crowd for a third time.

If you want another multiplayer game, don't use the SR IP to try and sell it. It didn't work for the 2022 Reboot, and it won't work for this.

Yeah, but it wouldn't hurt to have another online game as long as it's about gang warfare like Saints Row's multiplayer mode on a larger scale. Imagine having FUZZ or Human Torch or even Mayhem with several friends, more than just one or two, like a lobby of 50 people competing in the most well known Saints Row activities. Maybe we can have customizable cribs with a grid customization where you can place any prop wherever you want and you can invite members to your gang. Not to mention, it would actually give GTA online some competition.

I guess so... But I still prefer SR as a single player game. I'll be sticking with SR1, 2, & The Third for a truly great SR experience, until they reboot the franchise in a way that truly honours the original.

I see what you mean. I prefer playing single player too, but maybe deep silver will decide to make this a single player experience too. IF this even winds up coming to anything. I'm hopeful and I wish them all the best, but Volition and most of the Saints Row dev's lost my trust long ago. If anyone at all can fix the franchise it is Stockman. However, I don't have complete faith after the catastrophic failure of SRR. Things need to return to the franchise's original idea for the community to give praise, and honestly, SRTT could have never lived up to the original idea of Saints Row or its sequel. It's great that they pitched this to Stockman, but it means nothing if Deep Silver doesn't like what Stockman wants for this game or if they change their mind on it. It's great to be hopeful, but don't get your hopes too high or you'll just come crashing down like we all did with SRR.

He isn't, he's making a new IP that is a spiritual successor to Saints Row 1's Multiplayer
I get what you're saying, but... Agents Of Mayhem was supposed to be a new IP, but they dressed it up a little too like Saints Row with Purple being a primary theme, and the Fleur De Lis and everything... People were literally calling it Saints Row 5 for a long while after its release... Even if this new Multiplayer Game doesn't have Saints Row in the title, it sounds like it's gonna be heavily influenced by it, and that alone is enough to give long-time fans too much hope and expectations for an experience we'll just never see again.

Because let's face it. Most games seem to be getting streamlined into one generic experience coated in different skins. Even if Stockman tries to keep the game close to SR1's Multiplayer experience, the parent company will step in to cut, cancel, sensor, and streamline as much of the game as possible to appeal to an audience that's already drowning in generic Multiplayer content.
