Saints Row Prequel in pitching phase (Saints Row '77)

I hope he put really customizable characters in that pitch too, being forced to play as a male character in SR1 admittedly made it less unique compared to other game designs at the time. Future games fixing that made it so cool

Personally i don't see anything coming of this,

Pitching phase usually doesn't mean all that much, with movies, games, etc
Shit can sound too good to be true and be exactly that, Shit can sound awesome but reasonable and fall through because the execs didn't see any profit in it.

Do not keep your hopes up, if something does come out of it. Cool, at least it's from someone we might be able to trust with the series direction going forward.

Even if this doesn't work out, it's worth hyping it up to show that there is still enough interest to make some kind of future Saints Row project worthwhile. People are jaded, and rightly so. But here's someone in the industry experienced with the original games, with both an idea and an opportunity to actually get the series back on track. It's worth getting hopes up to support this, even at the risk of being let down.

Honestly, the pitch from Deep Silver to Chris Stockman amounting to nothing wouldn't be the biggest obstacle. The real concern would be if THQ Nordic is actually willing to greenlight the project; and I am assuming Deep Silver has to run approval through them first. Considering THQ outright rejected Deep Silver's previous pitches involving anything other than a reboot, it'd be a nice breath of fresh air to see them change their tune, now.

sounds cool. with the disappointment of the reboot back in (2022), fans and the community has been questioning the future of saints row. If they go ahead with this project and keep to the original roots of saints row, the game/series might have a chance to thrive once again.

This sounds like phenomenal news, now all that they have to do is not medal with the developers vision and allow them to make the game that they wanted to make with the last abortion of a Saints Row game that was ruined by studio medaling. If news of this pitch is true and they go ahead with this idea and still intrude on the developers vision and turn it into another hipster sim game but set in the 70's that will just guarantee that the Saints Row franchise will be dead in the water for years to come. But however on the bright side if they do well and they end up exceeding the amount of copies that they have sold with the older games then the new game could actually have a shot at bringing the franchise back from the dead.
