Almost every site I go on that talks about Saints Row being ridiculous and stupid. Supposedly GTA is better because it is more realistic. But isnt the only reason we play games is to do something we cant do in real life? hat the point in being realistic!!! Like seriously, if I went streaking with a Giant purple dildo violating aliens, well lets just say I would probably go to jail... What are your thoughts on this topic guys?

Very well said. Although from a technical standpoint the GTA game engine is about as good as you can get, creatively the game is a bit... well... uninteresting. It's just California. It's not anywhere that I would consider "exotic" in any way. Yes, it is very realistic, if that's all you're looking for. On the other hand, Saints Row is wild and crazy but it's creative and fun! I am still very impressed with the totally new and detailed world they created for GOOH, especially for a stand-alone add-on! THAT is creative! And although the Saints Row game engine is not quite technically up to GTA, it does have aspects that I love such as cloth simulation that GTA doesn't have. The Saints Row games look real enough, but they bring you to strange and wonderful new worlds that you'd never experience in real life.

I almost never play any realistic games because I found them boring after an hour but when I play SR4, I can play all the day without getting bored and I finished the game about 10 times just because it's ridiculous and stupid and I like that !
I think both games have their merits but to some they question if they should put in the hours in a game that feels like it doesn't take itself seriously but they're misunderstanding the whole point of Saints Row. It's not meant to be taken seriously, it's a joke on itself but it's one that is written so tongue-in-cheek that it's good.
Now you have GTA, one of the reasons a lot of people loved the old GTA games where moments of silliness and nods that the series doesn't really take itself as serious as people liked to believe which is now a thing of the past. GTA is getting way to serious and they're losing the comedic value some of the old games had for realistic or realism.
I see hate on them both for what they're becoming, personally I don't mind if GTA gets serious and Saint's row is silly and stupid, both series do what they set out to accomplish well in my opinion. I just hope maybe Rockstar or Volition will look back on their work and say "Maybe we should have a game that is both serious but has silly moments in it." because I honestly believe there is a middle ground for them in the type of game that Saint's Row and GTA are.

Honestly, I think any comparison between GTA and Saints Row is pointless. It's like trying to compare a serious action movie to an action-comedy. They are just different genres. Why compare?
For me, Saints Row has given me so many laugh out loud moments, literally, and that's something I don't see in so many games. If someone can't appreciate that, they can play something else. But there are a lot of us who do appreciate that!

LOL. Even GTA got its crazy humour back in the day, but just never reached Saints Row level.

Honestly, I really really miss Saints Row 2 style. It kept perfect balance between drama and fun. Saints Row 3 and 4 are very good as games and I enjoy playing them but it's always hard to call them 'Saints Row' for me, I still can't believe that SR IV and GOOH are actually canon. They should have created a separate series instead of making alien-dildo-wacky madness out of Saints Row.
And don't you even try to call Saints Row 2 a 'GTA clone'. It's just like calling all First Person Shooters 'Doom clones'.

I don't think of Saints Row 2 as a "GTA clone" to me it's just a game that shares some familiar aspects to the Rockstar franchise and nothing more. At least Saints Row actually has some better worth while features than GTA at times. I'll always pick Saints Row over GTA, just saying.
