SR2 Question about radio stations

The radio stations sounds quite cheap like on an AM station, and some said that all songs are located in music1_vpp.pc, but the file itself only weighs about 73MB. I extracted the files, result in files such as MUS_MIX.xwb, MUS_420.xwb, each file weighs about 20MB. But there are 3 other music vpps like this, with the biggest music3.vpp_pc weighing 1.40 GB. I wonder if those files in music1 is actually DJ banters and those music files are actually in other vpps? Thanks

I also extracted the 1.40 GB music3.vpp_pc, there are files such as SR2_VOC_AF.xwb, SR2_VOC_WM.xwb, only 8 files. What does VOC stand for? What audio files are inside? Thanks again!

And is there any package viewer/extractor with GUI such as Open IV for GTA IV? I am a dummy at modding. Thanks

There are some people that have gotten some radio station changes built, but it is a complex process. I think there is just a single sound file per radio station and the code just seeks around in there to play the songs. We do this so that the other stations will progress as well like in real life without having to play them as well. Ellis can probably give some more information, but I would suggest digging around and looking for that howto on the radio stations.

That how-to won't work. This question is about Saints Row 2, and nobody has successfully figured out the format or gotten changes to work.

But... but... SR2 radio was so good!

VOC is voice, if SR2 is anything like any other game we've made the _AF and _WM modifiers distinguish the gender and race of the voice (Asian female, white male, et al). All the rest of the stuff I'll have to ask the chief when he gets back from vacation.

I tested gameplay on SR2, all I know about the radio is one bug where the Paramore song didn't play for like a month. We were all very sad.

I'm just hoping we can get those HQ audio files for SR2 to replace the TERRIBAD tinny ones from the PC port. Weren't you looking into that, Ellis?

Thanks. I loved the song on the radio especially The Mix, the selection's great! Sadly song are in bad quality so trying to savor the stations is bittersweet. Are songs actually all located in music1.vpp_pc? That file was way too small for 12 stations.

Thanks. My English is bad, so i didn't understand. Did you mean that radio stations are actually 12 long audio files, like in GTA VC? And the code seeks for a part in them to play a song? Like 18:30 - 21:30 is a song, and 41:25 - 42:00 is a commercial, to achieve dynamic radio programs? Thanks.

I also found a odd problem. Songs end too quickly even not playing outro, same happens to commercials. They don't finish themselves properly, then DJ banters cut in. So weird

That is my understanding. It might be different for SR2 though.

This makes me think it is different. I'll ask some people around that office that might know.
