Original Gangstas of Tha Row is a partial-overhaul, and fan expansion of Saints Row 2 that changes and adds a few things in order to provide an experience closer to the original 2006 game, by bringing back the "hustle or die" economy and balancing the original had. This mod also exists to provide a lite GOTR experience, without having all the crazy and surreal modern SR-esque features that don't tickle mine, or other Saints OGs tastes, and just prefer the realistically grounded mayhem.

This mod was created for GOTR (specifically the "unmodified" patch-only version with vanilla files for stuff like weapons and drugs) originally before later becoming it's own fully seperate mod through Juiced Patch; this mod has been developed off and on since late 2017. A major reason why development was "so long" was due to being delayed for the non-existent PC Patch that never happened. Now we have Juiced and the SR2 PC DLC available and I'm frankly sick of it sitting on my hard-drive... so it's finally out.

This mod was not tested on Co-Op or Multiplayer. Support for those mods are effectively unplanned so you are on your own there. Additionally you will be required to start a new save game due to the scope of this mod. I've completed multiple game playthroughs with this mod; both in it's GOTR-patcher era and Juiced Era so the game is completable from start to finish, but issues may slip through, let me know ASAP.

Requirements
- Juiced Patch
- SR2 PC DLC (probably not a hard requirement, only a couple of mission lua/cts scripts were modified for unit equipment parity)

Installation
  1. Download, and open your zip with your extractor of choice, extract the OGR folder within directly to your Saints Row 2/mods folder.
  2. Look for "loose.txt" in your main SR2 directory, and open it
  3. Add "mods/OGR" (without quotations) just above the "mods" section
  4. Play
Recommended Mods
Incompatible Mods
  • GOTR (which is now heavily outdated; you're shooting yourself in the foot forgoing Juiced for that)
  • Any other major or total conversion mod.
  • Probably a lot of other mods that change the same files (this can probably be avoided under those mods)
Features
  • Added SR1 Vehicle Colors for SR2 by Qwerty Van Hallen, which replaces all the ugly dull car colour palettes with the vibrant palette of SR1.
  • Being Hit by Cars in SR2 will now be a lot more like SR1.
  • Food dropped by Gang Members will now be x2 more likely to drop.
  • Overhauled Crib Safe Limit Values, now they progress roughly by $2500 x 2 x Crib Amount.
  • Added nclok1405's Hidden Stats.
  • The camera (except height) now uses the same parameters as the SR1 camera.
  • Included ImpulseOfSword2007's FUZZ Crimes Restoration Mod. Additionally Bikers now use SKR-7s instead of GAL43s.
  • Overhauled Difficulty Levels. Hardcore now functions akin to SR1's global difficulty with x1.65 wait mult for health regen delay, easy now a x1 multiplier, normal now x1.3. Hardcore AIs now deal 25% extra damage. Normal is now x1, and Easy now deals 0.75%. Increased Hardcore ramming delay to 15 seconds.
  • Prices for Vehicle Colours, Cribs, Vehicle Wheels, Weapons, Ammo, being busted and smoked have all been doubled.
  • You can be busted at any time (No more needing to be under <30% health) making police a greater threat, and more than just a glorified gang. Police will always have non-lethal weapons at first noriety. Also re-added the Barrio Police Precient respawn point, and fixed the bug where being busted near the prison island would spawn you in the cutscene hospital.
  • You will now respawn out the front door of the Saint's Row Hospital if you die nearby.
  • Alcohol now provides super punch effect from SR1, Blunts now reduce taken damage. Restored the Krystal, and Bong. Other drugs such as spliffs, pipes, and gin n juice not restored due to xtbl/preload limits.
  • Added Stilwater Transit Train Stations...kinda, it's just a set of warp markers in the Train Stations that cost nothing. Not as flexible as SR1's but it's something.
  • You can no longer purchase the Magma from Foreign power, however you can now purchase the Justice, Socialite, Nelson, Halberd, and the Quasar instead. All Boats can now be bought from Ship It, and all Bikes can now be purchased from Cycles.
  • Both Drug Trafficking, and Mayham activites now give different weapons.
  • The Mag can now spawn correctly now (and will so in Downtown, Saints Row, and Arena), and can be used as a Saint's Vehicle when Tier 3 Vehicles are unlocked. Pierce now correctly arrives in his Mag when called.
  • Charred Hard now uses the Freckle Bitch's menu (due to drugs.xtbl limitations)
  • The Saints now use an expanded arsenal of melee weapons such as knives, brass knuckles, crowbar, and of course the baseball bat.
  • Ultor Security no longer use the Tombstones, opting for AS-12 Riots instead, making them a force to be reckoned with. They may also spawn in their Ultor SUVs aswell. Ultor Security may now use the Knoxville in their indoor spawns during notoriety.
  • Escort Updates; Increased time delay of Roadblocks in Level 6 slightly. IRS now appear as two business males driving Nelsons. PIs now drive Zircons. Significant Others now drive the Zimos. Restored Air complication.
  • Masako now use their correct AR-50s instead of the AR40, they now utilize GDHCs, AS-12 Riots, Hand Grenades, SKR-9s and AS-14 Hammers in combat, making them a fearful force. The Masako no longer use non-lethal options. These guys provide a pretty great endgame challenge as implied by the story, and are as elite as they should be.
  • The FBI now utilize .44 Shepherds, Tombstones, AR40s, and NR4 in combat. SWAT officers now correctly fly the Tornados, which now only spawns at max notoriety in non-Ultor areas. FBI now have more health.
  • SWATs now utilize the SKR7, AS12 Riot, and rarely the AR40, or Tombstone. The SWAT officers now spawn with their Peacekeepers at Level 4 Notoriety. The latter applies at Notoriety 5, where they'll appear with the FBI. SWAT members now use Helmets and Ski Masks instead of their hats when encountered. SWAT also have more health.
  • 4-door Gang Vehicles, may now spawn when Roaming. Gangs no longer use hand grenades, and utilize Pipe Bombs at full capacity.
  • All weapons now may be bought from the beginning of the game, however the only issue is getting the coinage to buy them.
  • SKR-7 SPREE, can be bought from Friendly Fire for $1300, it is the second most common SMG next to the TEC9. The SKR-7 but boasts an impressive rate of fire, punchy sound and decent damage at the cost of inaccuracy and magazine size.
  • The SKR-9 THREAT can now be bought from Friendly Fire for $2000, it now has a smaller magazine size (32), slower rate of fire and the greatest accuracy of all SMGs, and has a bonus vs vehicles. The SKR-9 is now found upon the Ultor Masako.
  • The AS12 Riot can now be bought from Friendly Fire for $4000, functioning more or less as a bridge between the Tombstone and AS14. The AS12 may be found upon the Samedi, Ronin, SWAT, FBI, and Ultor Security Guards.
  • The original McManus can now be bought from Friendly Fire it is less accurate, it has less range, and deals less damage but has a faster firing rate, and more zoom levels. It also replaces the McManus 2010 in pre-Epilogue levels.
  • GDHC now has increased damage, and fire rate.
  • Added the Golden GDHC .50, functioning like the classic one from Saints Row 1, dealing 500 damage per shot, 14 round mag size, faster fire rate, etc than the vanilla GDHC .50. The GDHC is unlocked after completing 1 Hitman Activity Line.
  • Added the Platinum T3K Urban; it functions more or less the same as it did in SR1. It is unlocked following the completion of Hitman activities.

  • A generic Combine Harvester may now spawn at the Pleasant View farm near the silos/gas tank (it's not perfect though, when you come upon it initially it will be invisible; simply turn away and return)
  • Quasars, Betsys, Justices and Bulldogs now spawn more often.
  • Added Saints variant of the Stiletto which can be selected upon gaining Gang Cars Set 2.
  • Bad Trip Mission Marker now placed at where the opening cutscene begins instead of randomly in the middle of the road. A new marker has been added for the correct starting position after the cutscene.
  • The Siege Starting Marker, now correctly appears in the front of the Saints Hideout.
  • Burning Down the House Starting Location/Mission Marker now located next to the Apartments Trail Blazing, as both's starting cutscenes are visually stated to occur at the same location.
  • Variants of the Delivery Truck no longer have paint on their wheels, now using Stainless Steel. UPS Guys now actually spawn. They existed but were essentially unused. You can find them in Suburban areas.
  • Hearse drivers are now their own group from limo drivers, and can spawn in suburban areas, downtown, and saint's row. However hearses will no longer spawned parked (outside of CTS scripts)
  • Satchel Charges can now be bought directly from friendly fire, but they cost $1000.

  • Added Unused Socialite Saints Variant upon unlocking the final gang car customization list.
  • Ultor Rent-A-Cop Allies now use AR50s and SKR-9 THREATs instead of AR40s and T3K Urbans.
  • America's Next Top Scientist now provides SKR-7s instead of T3Ks.
Changelog
1.01/Build 28/5/26
  • Now included the Preload File; this means the additional weapons and changed models will now correctly load.
  • Vulture Weapons now function closer to SRTT; Missiles are no longer seek, are quicker and fired much faster, main gun now fires slower with quicker wind up with more damage and uses the M249 Firing Sounds
  • Masako in "Corporate Meltdown" now only use AS14s, AR50s and SKR-9s.
  • Masako in "Tonight with Tera Patrick" now use AR50s as a "minimum" weapon instead of the AR-40.
  • AB Destroyer primary wind up reduced greatly, fires faster, increased bullet damage, missile altfire is no longer seeking, quicker and fired much faster.
  • Police Spawn more often like the vanilla game.
  • Up to 4 Police/SWAT/FBI may now spawn in Level 4 and Level 5 Notoriety levels.
  • SWAT now use FBIs. Not a great replacement, but it represents vehicles such as the Chevrolet Suburban typically used by Police Departments. Peacekeepers still spawn but less commonly.
  • SWAT Officers spawned for chases now use the SKR-7 more often, and Tombstones left often.

Known Issues
  • The game may crash at random times, this is to be expected of SR2 modding, even if nothing is wrong.
  • Sometimes the game may crash upon finishing a load (or loading in general), simply restart and it should work.
  • Using old save games will have bugs, don't say I didn't tell you so.
  • Additional drug items from SR1 (such as Pipes) do not appear due to memory limitations.
  • Originally there was plans for the CKH Riot Special, Platinum Launcher and Platinum AS12 Riot to return, but due to SR2's memory limitations they were never added.
  • Cops will fire Stun Guns when their target is in the car... not fixable or game breaking but very dumb.

Special Thanks
  • IdolNinja for many things, which without this mod wouldn't exist.
  • MiniMaul for the site, and the tools that this mod needed to work.
  • BandiG for the SR1 Vehicle Camera Mod.
  • CabooseSayzWTF for their SR1 T3k Mod.
  • MasakoTeam for their Ultor Rising Mod (where the Train Station warps come from), and Unused Mission Objectives mod
  • B Dawg and his mod pack, which the K6 Krukov, AR-40, and Samedi boss re-balances this mod used.
  • Qwerty Van Hallen for SR1 Vehicle Colors for SR2.
  • Fl1ppy and mrsaintsgodzilla for their videos, if they didn't exist, I wouldn't consider my self a classic saints row boomer, thus this wouldn't exist.
  • ImpulseOfSword2007 for FUZZ Crimes Restoration Mod, and Combat Overhaul which inspired some of the features present in this mod.
  • nclok1405 for their Hidden Stats mod.
  • Masamura for their SR2 Improved Vehicles mod, of which select handling files (mostly trucks and SUVs) in this mod are from.

Looks great. Thanks for sharing! A few questions.

1. Does this include the bug fixes that GOTR has?
2. Does this add in any extra cribs like GOTR?
3. I don't see anything about the silenced Vice pistol that GOTR adds. Is that included?
4. The standalone Train Stations mod replaces purchasable shops to make it work without memory issues. Does your mod do the same?

Also in your list of features, this line looks unfinished and doesn't say how to unlock the weapon:
"Added the Platinum T3K Urban; it functions more or less the same as it did in SR1. It is unlocked following"
Unlocked following what?

Thanks! Look forward to trying this out :)
1. OGTR uses clean vanilla files for most of it's data; some fixes might've crossed over accidentally.
2. No
3. No; memory limitations, and I don't see the point of including it (stealth isn't a thing in SR anyway)
4. No, Purchasable Shops are included since that issue was the result of GOTR adding a lot of content that interferes with marker limits.
5. Good eye, I must've gotten distracted when writing that. It requires completing 3 levels of Hitman.

Whilst this mod was originally based on GOTR, it's code base was based specifically on it's unmodified "patch-only" version (that should also be specified) so the content, inclusions, and project itself is very much its own thing. Using the old GOTR patcher was just serendipity due to the age of the project.

for some reason when i have this mod installed in makes my baseball bat, vice 9, tombstone and i think the AS14 all invisible. any solutions? i dont think i have any other mods that modify weapons.

Fixed in Version 1.01/Build 28/5/26. Download it, extract the contents directly into your SR2 main folder, and everything should work.

New mod came out that could be good for this one.

It currently crashes when used alongside OGTR, but you could possibly use it to add the remaining SR1 drugs, silenced pistol, and other features you may have had to leave out for memory reasons.
The cause of the crash is either the Tow Truck's modified XTBL file, or CTVF file - no idea of the exact cause. Just delete them both (for now?)

I am currently investigating the mod - you might get your Silenced Pistol, but it's implementation will be slightly different from GOTR; balance wise.

It would be intresting if it was found on Ronin gang members like in the cutscene

That's the plan, spawns on higher ranking members and medium-high notoriety levels, though you can buy it from stores as well

I plan on using this patch to also bring back the rest of the drugs (properly balanced and purposeful, many of them had more or less the same or all over the place stats), Platinum RPG, the cut CKH Riot Special (which will be yet another tool for cops to force you into ragdoll and arrest you, though rare), and the Platinum AS12 will all be coming back too.

This feels like the defenitive edition of saints row 2, Cut content restoration. Feels like a dream coming true
