Improved Subtitle Visuals Made By Vlad Viper

SuperUI Made By nclock1405

Juiced Patch is recommended: https://www.saintsrowmods.com/forum/threads/saints-row-2-juiced-patch.21627/

Features:
-Translated Japanese and Spanish Lines into English, represented by gray colored text. (Mandarin wasn't necessary as Wong's translator exists, might as well let him do his job, right?)
-Added Color coded character names above all subtitles. Optionally, some of them appear as question marks until you're officially told their names in the story. This version is recommended for people who haven't played the game before or haven't played the game in a while and don't remember the story.
-Fixed many typos, grammatical mistakes and other badly laid out strings.

To install this mod, you paste the "ISV - Translated Text & Character Names" folder inside the "mods" folder found in your SR2 directory. If you don't have one, create it, and then open up loose.txt and add another line called "mods/ISV - Translated Text & Character Names" above any other mods you might have installed to make sure it takes the highest priority.

If you wish to not see question marks "???" above character names based on story, you can choose to also install or override from the "ISV - Translated Text & Character Names - No Question Marks" folder.

If you have the mod SuperUI installed, copy the "ISV - SuperUI Compatibility Patch" folder inside your mods folder or simply override.

Just don't forget to add these folders in loose.txt too and place their names above the main mod if you choose to not override.

rewatch "Family Ties" cutscene and the Japanese part between the Akujis made the talk between Jyunichi and a Ronin goon disappeared at the bottom. Can you adjust so that the foreign parts don't affect the english/original parts? maybe move the foreign parts to top of the screen? or do a scroll up/ drop back?
If not I can understand and since we can just remove the mod to get back to original subtitles, that's fine for me

I did include a file (RO02-02.xtbl) that changes the timing to prevent the text from overlapping and cutting awkwardly. Maybe something went wrong on your end. That being said, that file isn't an ideal fix, I did try to make 5 or even 6 lines of text appear on-screen at once to make the dialogue all fit for that specific scene, but I couldn't figure out how to not have the very bottom lines exit the screen so i kind of settled on that as a workaround for now.

then I guess I will live with it, because I tried other cutscenes and all works fine, older lines moved up then disappeared for newer ones to replace. if the issue is just on that particular part of that scene then no big deal for me. thanks for replying

Well, the character names use up one of the three available on-screen lines (although it does look nice that way most of the time). Of course it would be a big job to do all of them, but it could help to have the names on the same line as the dialogue (at least just for the problem subtitles).

Like this:
The Boss: Fuck you say?
Instead of this:
The Boss
Fuck you say?

I wonder if there's some way to adjust the scroll speed of a subtitle... (Jane Valderama's subtitles in "Check, Please" [TSSP02-01] are a good example of scrolling.)

The amount of lines has been increased to 4 in this mod to help with this. I did experiment with making the subs look like that before but thought having them change occasionally would not look very pretty. Maybe I'll go back and make some changes if I can't figure out how to raise the anchor point of the subs, so the text doesn't go off-screen with 5 or 6 lines enabled.

My bad. Didn't have it installed as a high enough priority. I see that now.

Well, ugly is better than nothing being on screen, imo. And it would be an even better solution with four lines available.

Try this. It uses the "cs_help_anchor" anchor point, and allows for eight lines at once. Could be a little more obtrusive for single line subtitles though (which is most of them).
