SRTT Homie audio in vehicles is way too quiet

Is there any way to fix this? Anytime a homie is in a vehicle the volume of their speech lowers by about half of what it is while on-foot.

Are you talking about scripted lines or just the incidental combat lines?

Knobby started an internal email thread about this. I'll be in the office sometime this weekend, I can take a gander at the attenuations and see how far the camera pulls back when the player's in a vehicle.

Scripted lines in missions are fine. It's the incidental combat lines that are the problem. For example, if you hit another car and your homie says something about your driving.

I don't recall having this issue, but i play with 7.1 headphones.
What are the odds that you're playing with a 5.1 or 7.1 setup but only using stereo headphones or head unit?

It's possible that the incidental lines are programmed to come out of the Back or Side channels and you're just not hearing them because you don't have those channels active.

Try going into your Sound Playback devices and configure your primary output device to be Stereo Only and see if that helps...

Good thought, but I use USB stereo headphones. It's already configured as stereo.

Talking with Mike Wilson, and apparently this is the "5.1 bug." It supposedly occurs when you skip the opening movies of the THQ and AMD logo and messes up the sound. At first, I scoffed at the very notion, but sure enough... just tried it and it WORKS. Homie sounds play at the correct volume in-game, and all I had to do was just sit through the opening bink movies. How weird is that?

Idol, in that case, try these and see if it still works.
