Game crashes during prologue

Hi,

I just bought Saints Row IV, having really enjoyed the third one.

After downloading through Steam, the game crashes right after the logos finish playing. It always says the App is already running.

I got it to stop crashing by switching to windowed mode with Alt-Enter. Then I set my resolution as borderless windowed from the game's menu, and I could play just fine.

Until 5 minutes into the prologue, when you burst through the Comm Door. It crashes every time at that point, telling me the App is already running.

I've got an Intel I7 processor, Nvidia GTX 580 and Windows 7. I've read there are issues with AMD, so that doesn't apply here.

What can I do? I've paid £40 for this and I want to enjoy it. Any solutions?

Here is the Dump file I got from the latest crash when I burst through the door in the prologue.

PART II: Basic Posting Common Sense

1. DO NOT double/triple/quadruple/etc post. If you have something else to say then use the EDIT button instead of adding multiple posts in a row. There are obvious exceptions to this rule for authors of mod releases that require frequent updating, or if you are reviving an older thread with new important information.

6. DO NOT sign your posts at the end. You are not writing a letter, and we can already see your username when we glance to the left at your account.

Merging and editing your thread.

Now, onto the content of your post.
Read this thread and see if the sections about the ASUS drivers apply to you:

Do you have any other dump files? It looks like you're crashing down in a lua call, which is odd for sure. I also don't see any reports of this from the automated report stuff. Did you verify your steam data?

I verified the data, and I also updated my Nvidia drivers. Then, the game also installed a 7 MB update, which might be related to me getting the free GAT V DLC.

Whichever of these did it, I don't know, but I've been able to play the game properly since. :)
