Just thought I would come in and say that GOG version of SR2 on PC does not cap the frame rate at 30fps, rather it seems to cap the FPS based on your CPU frequency. The Xbox 360 has a clock speed of 3.2 GHz, and setting your PC's CPU clock speed to 3.2 caps SR2 PC's frame rate to 30 frames per...
Odds are if you are reading this thread you are familiar with my previous thread discussing this topic, if not I would recommend you read this first here. Anyways I've been back at it again screwing around in the game seeing what specific areas I should prioritize for the next update of...
LEGAL NOTICE: I do not condone the piracy of Saints Row 2, regardless of the platform. Please legally purchase the game from the appropriate storefronts.
I've been meaning to get to this for a while now I finally have the time to do it! You see for the past few months Saints Row 2 has been...
Back in business! I'm hoping to optimize the remaining interiors that I have missed, also I miiiiiiiight know what is causing frame drops near elevated highways/freeways.
Grrrrrrrr... I missed some interior shadows. Hoping to address those in the next update, along with some unopitimized exterior shadows like those outside the arena.
Alright so I'm going to change trajectory a bit for the next releases. The next release will have all of the shadows in ALL of the interiors disabled. It will make things easier from a development standpoint. Hopefully releasing within the next week or so.
Hmmm I'm curious about the lightcharacter and lightlevel flags, I might do some more comparisons between the PC and Xbox version and see if that is the culprit of poor optimization as well. Also worth noting that (i think all?) of the street light shadows have the same optimization issues as the...
Alright sorry for keeping you folks waiting for so long, but I'm going to wait until Moyh Mayhem updates the map editor so I can change the lighting data as I please instead of hex editing. I just simply don't have the patience to manually hex edit all that data. Also please don't bother him...
I found out that the common factor between all of these unoptimized indoor lights and outdoor light sources is that they are disabled when the 'Dynamic Lights' option is set to anything other than 'All'. I'm thinking that maybe the lights have a flag related to this option, and if the flag is...
Small development update: So... up until now I thought all of the unoptimized shadows were exclusive to interiors but NOPE! It turns out that a select few exterior lights have the issue as well. A few of them including the tall ones outside the hospital and a whole group of them near the arena...
