What are the Robots?

In the "Members Online Now" Section There's a little count at the bottom. What are these robots? Site bots or people using an illegal program or just something that's None of my business? I know it sounds nosy.

It's mostly search indexers - Googlebot, Yahoo!, Bing, Baidu, etc.
