This may fix the LAN hosting and joining issues with Evolve.

Or I will paste what I wrote here:

This is worth a shot....

****It seems some have no issue with LAN or Virtual LAN and Saints Row 2 and others do have an issue. Which I think could maybe be people who installed Evolve before hosting any online or LAN games in SR2.****

*One trick with those that do have issues is located in the guide I put together (http://steamcommunity.com/app/9480/discussions/0/846958724811426425/) where you host a Party in Evolve then disable your online network adapter (keep Evolve Gaming Connection enabled) and load up SR2 host a LAN co-op game and alt-tab then re-enable the network adapter, wait for the Party to reconnect then tell your co-op bud to join and alt-tab back in the game.*

So with that my idea is to do a fresh install while keeping the online network adapter disabled and the Evolve Gaming Connection. So maybe SR2 will only see the Evolve Gaming Connection and set it as the default adapter? Here's hoping at least.

(This could be easily fixed if SR2 allowed manually entering a IP address when doing a LAN game.

Or better yet if Evolve had an option for specific games to automatically disable and enable the network adapter when launching a Title like Saints Row 2. So it would disable it for 5 seconds then re-enable. You could specify this in the settings for the specific game you need this for....

Or since you use the Windows key to access the Evolve overlay they could add a re-enable network adapter button or something....)

Request these ideas to Evolve. ;) (https://www.evolvehq.com/forums/evolve/feature-suggestions)

However if this works we won't need that but it may be useful for another stubborn game. :p

Anyways I can't seem to find a file that determines the default adapter. Most likely in the .exe file....

So........ Clean install it is....

1. In Steam you'd right click on Saints Row 2 and select backup then where is says file size select custom and enter like 9999. (As it asks to backup on CD or DVD. Steam really needs to update this. Who uses CDs or DVDs for backup anymore?)

2. Once backed up. Start a party in Evolve (which enabled the Evolve Gaming Connection network adapter). Now disable the online network adapter (any network adapter that connects online) and leave the Evolve Gaming Connection enabled.

3. Then while in Network connections click on Advanced and Advanced Settings. Click Evolve Gaming Connection and click the up arrow to make sure it's on top all others then click OK.

4. Open Windows File Explorer. Make sure hidden file and folders are enabled. (Google how to enable hidden files and folders in Windows Explorer.)

Navigate to: C:\Users\(YOUR WINDOWS USERNAME)\AppData\Local\thq\saints row 2

find all the .bbsaves and move them to another folder. These are your saved games.

5. Now select the Saints Row 2 folder. (in AppData\Local\THQ) and delete it. (Make sure those save games you backed up are in another folder.)

6. In Steam right click on Saints Row 2 and goto Properties. Click on Updates and where it says Steam cloud untick enable steam cloud.

7. Now right click on Saints Row 2 again and select delete local content.

Then goto C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common check if there is a Saints Row 2 folder which if there still is then delete it.

8. Now go where your Saints Row 2 backup is and is install it while keeping the online network adapter or adapters disabled except the Evolve Gaming Connection with the Party still open.

Ignore any offline errors that Evolve or Steam give.

Once the game is installed goto Co-op and Host a LAN game. Once it says waiting for players....

Then alt+tab then enable your network adapter wait for the Evolve Party to re-connect.

Have a friend join. It should work like disabling the network adapter normally would if you have this issue....

Now the real test. Exit SR2 and re-host a co-op LAN game and have your friend join once more. Hopefully it works without having to disable the network adapter and the issue is now fixed. :)

I tried hunting for a file that may hold the LAN info with no luck. So clean install may be the only way.... You could even go a step further and delete the registry entries too. (You better know what you're doing though.)

If it works then restore your game saves and proceed to install GOTR and such.

Re-enable Steam cloud too.

Game on!
