Taking things from past Volition games/ the modding folder?

I was thinking would it be possible to take cars/weapons/character models/textures/shaders from saints row 2, red faction: guerilla, or red faction: armeggeddon and moving them over to Saint's Row: the Third? I noticed that they're quite similar files between all the games. I've also been wondering what the modding folder does that's in the saint's row the third pack files folder. Could we pull vehicle pack files from sr2 and throw them in there and have them work. Does work similar to the "dropzone" folder in just cause 2 acting as a designated overwrite folder for mods. Tell me what y'all think.
 
I don't think so. Volition redid a lot of their tech for this game, and I doubt you can just copy and paste all the old assets to the new ones without converting them over (which we don't know how to do yet for most files).
 
That said, in a few of the weapons folders there appear to be listings for weapons from SR2 and Red Faction in them oddly enough. I've been trying to tinker with their stats to see if there's any way to get them to function or appear in game. I've seen listings for the AR-50, NanoForge, the Needler, and more. Even the Samurai Sword is listed in there. If the weapons models are still somewhere in the game as well, then these stats may be able to be altered to function in game.

Maybe they're future DLC?
 
If they were listed the same way as the SR3 weapons I'd more than agree with you Kyle, but they are listed differently. Example being that an SR3 SMG is listed as WPN_SUB_MACHINE_GUN in category. However the TEC9 from SR2 is listed as SR2Old:Ranged_Weapon. That's not exactly right, but that's about as well as I could remember it.

So? Try renaming it
 
*face palm* Its not that eeeeeeeasy. If it were do you think I'd be posting theories on how to get it to work? I've tried renaming, recategorizing, listing, adding them to all the possible weapon related xbtl documents I could find, but to no avail. Once again, I stated quite clearly, they are in there, they are listed similarly, but seem to be also be totally different in many areas of their text.

Did you try setting up a whole new weapon in weapons xbtl and importing the model into where all the gun models are located at?

Like setup in the style of the sr3 weapons but set to load the sr2 models
 
I don't have the original gun models, nor do I know if or where they are located in the SR3 folders. I have tried completely relabeling weapons, re-rwiting, adding to all the different weapon files, but it just doesn't seem to work right for me. I'm trying, but not a lot of luck, if you have any break throughs on your end though, please feel free to share as at the moment I'm lost on where to really proceed from here. For now I'm just trying to fine tune my weapons mod. I can't seem to get the flags just right to set people on fire via the stag rifle.
