Saved game help PC

I was on a loading screen for a mission and the game is just on the loading screen , stuck it wasn't completely froze cause I could still see the Auto save circle moving so I turned off my game. Relaunched it (and my PC) and about 3 - 4 hours of progress had gone nothing had been auto saved.
Any help?
 
Are you using Steam Cloud? if so it could have been a case where you were offline, and Steam is now loading a really old save..or none at all.
 
The game didnt save at all, i have checked my save game files and there was nothing there, luckily enough i have been doing the game co-op so i could use my partners save but it wont allow me to move that save into my saved files
 
This is why I asked about Steam Cloud (which is on by default) and like the name suggests, puts your saves in the cloud meaning not on your computer.

I thought Steam Cloud used both a local and a server-side copy of the save. AFAIK it timestamps the saves, and compares them on launch. If the timestamps don't match it tells you which one is new/old, and asks if you want to overwrite the local save or the cloud save, or play offline. At least this is what it did for SR3, I saw the dialog quite often as I'd play on several different computers, although there's no way I can check this for SR:IV as only one of my systems even comes close to the minimum requirements. On a not-entirely unrelated note, today's Steam patchnotes mentioned something about cloud save acting all stupid like and losing player progress.
