Basic Description:
The crew of the Saints ship are attacked by a ship of rogue Zin who wish to uphold the laws of Zinyak. Things look bad for the Saints, so they attempt to escape via a makeshift time machine. But the time machine's stability will only last for one use. The crew all agree to send Playa into the past, then say their goodbyes before Playa steps into the time machine. Playa ends up back in the streets of Harrowgate just in time to witness their past self begin their life changing walk down the street, but unfortunately gets caught in the crossfire of Los Carnales. As Playa bleeds out, Young Playa tries to comfort them. Playa hands Young Playa their phone, and only utters the words "watch, the video files" before dying. Levar aims the pistol at the back of Young Playa's head before getting intimated by Troy, to which Levar runs off. Young Playa slips the phone into their pocket before Julius and Troy invite them to the rally. From this point on, the story is pretty much the same as the first Saints Row, but the gameplay is a good mix of SR2 & SRTT (with full character customization including male & female options). And vehicles are much more diverse than the first game, such as adding bikes, boats, helicopters, planes, etc to the mix. But now, whenever Playa reaches a mission with regrettable consequences, their phone will have an option to play the mission as it originally happened, or play it with a different result (Eg: Ignore phone and let Lin die, or watch video file and save Lin), but not all alternate options may be better.
The Playa from the future will use 8 NPC models bases on the default looks in the SRIV Presidential magazines. Before starting the initial cutscene to start the game, you'll be given the choice of which model future Playa uses (the most suitable voice will be chosen for the model).
By the end of the game, there will be 4 endings based on the decisions made:
100% good options chosen - Future Playa, Oleg, Gat, and (classic) Shaundi return to fill Playa in on the new and better timeline. Followed by screenshots of the new timeline during the credits.
Over 50% good options chosen - Future Playa will return to reassure them that they changed history for the better.
Over 50% bad options chosen - Future Playa will return to take the phone back and stop Playa from changing the timeline any further.
100% bad options chosen - The Zin will return and invade Earth earlier than scheduled.
Original Story - After the credits, if no changes were made to the timeline, and you stuck to the original story, the cutscene from the beginning of this game will begin to play again before fading to black.

Julius is sitting in his Office in the Church, when his laptop turns on, showing a video of Kinzie and Future Playa aboard the ship.
Kinzie: You're all set up. Take it away.
FPlaya: This is a message for all the Saints excluding me. You've changed the past for the better, but there's still a lot of ground to cover. The upcoming invasion by the Zin is going to require all hands on deck, and that means we'll need to do a lot more recruiting.
Cut to Troy in his new Office as Chief of Police, he too is watching the video on his laptop.
FPlaya: Troy, I'll need you to arrest all the current Saints and open up that abandoned prison island so they'll be safely out of the city... And that includes Johnny... He'll resist at first, but it needs to be done.
Cut to Lin and Donnie in Donnie's garage watching the same video on their phones.
FPlaya: Lin, I know you decided to lay low after the incident with Sharp. But I'll need you and Donnie to get in good with the Brotherhood when they arrive in Stilwater. It's the only way to break 'em down just enough to make a fair deal in working with the Saints.
Cut to Luz and Manuel watching the Flat Screen in the Lopez Mansion.
FPlaya: Manuel. I know you and Luz have plans to move back to Columbia, but I'm gonna need Luz when it's time to deal with the Ronin.

FPlaya: Dex, I know you think things have gotten out of hand, and I know you're taking a job at Ultor to try and bring us down... But the upcoming war is bigger than a petty fist fight between street gangs and swat teams. So take the job, but use it to ally Ultor with the Saints so we can save Earth in the long run.
Cut to Wheel Woman parking outside the Abandoned Storefront. Vikki is in the front, and Will and Samantha are in the back of her Destiny. They are all listening to the radio.

FPlaya: If the Saints are still at large, there's no way the Brotherhood, Ronin and Samedi will show up in Stilwater. And we really need them on the team if we're gonna deal with Zinyak before he destroys Earth. So I'm gonna need you to do something that I know past me won't agree to, but it's the only way to get the other 3 gangs to show up. And I don't even need to tell you what it is, because I know you've been thinking about it since the moment I proved myself during canonization.

Alexya gives Playa a discount and apologises, then warns Playa not to get too close to anyone after eating the burger. (Chicken Ned is stood outside the door spinning a sign the whole time.)

Cutscene - A Freckle Bitch's Employee named Dave meets with Playa behind the Freckle Bitch's in Cecil Park to ask if Playa will protect him from Lik-A-Chik's hired LCs as he makes Deliveries.

The Saints need a little extra hand in dealing with their assigned gangs, Playa must escort them around town and follow their orders. Playa enters Lik-A-Chik at night and walks up to the counter. Adam then enters the restaurant after and walks back to the register. Alexya tells his to get changed as he just finished unclogging the sewer line, but he just grabs the burger from her and hands it straight to Playa before attempting to charge normal price. Alexya gives Playa a discount and apologises, then warns Playa not to get too close to anyone after eating the burger. (Chicken Ned is stood outside the door spinning a sign the whole time.)

Zombie Uprising The Third (Diversion):

After returning to normal, Playa realises that the whole city is now infected, they see a group of 3 Saints getting attacked by Zombies.
Objective:
Rescue & recruit the group of Saints then kill 13 Zombies per Neighbourhood while keeping your Saints alive. (No time limit, no barriers, but the kill count will reset if not completed before moving to a new Neighbourhood) (Starting Neighbourhood is randomized)
