Saints Row IV crash

I recently downloaded some mods and extracted files to the Saints Row IV folder. When I opened Saints Row IV everything loaded but when It tells you that it saves automatically and it shows a saving symbol that is moving, it crashes right after. I verified game cache and it did the same. Do I have to delete the mods from the folder?

yeah i've actually not had this much trouble getting mods to work on a game, the only thing i haven't tried to do is make sure both games are installed or create directories for things that aren't there (when being told to put files in specific folders).
