Leftovers replaces Charred Hard Burgers

Since Charred Hard just serves the same Burgers as Freckle Bitch's. I figure it should be replaced with something else.

So I'm introducing "Leftovers" to replace the most pointless food store in the game.

Menu items are:

- Mystery Drink (Just reuses the Freckle Bitch's Cup for Physical Model just like COG and PMPY)

- Pizza Crusts

- Half Eaten Pizza

- Mystery Box

All 3 use this as their Physical Model

As far as the storefront goes I think that if you could find the correct
files you could change it. But there are a couple of things to consider.
The first one: is that storefront used by more than one building?
If you change one Charred Hard Burgers will they all change at the same
time?

Secondly if you mod the graphic on the order board. It will just change the
graphic. You would still be ordering the same food. To change that You would
have to change the names in game, and that might break something. If you
wanted to try renaming them, the info is in Drugs.xtbl. In the case of Charred
Hard Burgers I think there are only two items on the menu. So if you wanted to
be able to order more than that you would have to add the extra items to the
game files and again that might break something.

About Randall's Pizza. The same thing is true. You could add it as a store front
but in order to use it as a restaurant you would have to add it to the game
files. It would have to be added to the stores available in game (the shops files
in common.vpp_pc). This should be possible. Mike added several new shops
in the form of car dealerships. You would also have to add the food items to the
drugs.xtbl and they would still use the animations that already exist.
I'm not sure where it is on the forum, but somebody tried adding a hot dog to
the menu and it caused problems.

However, if you just wanted to add it as a storefront and give it an ingame
presence may I make a suggestion? Design your storefront and design a decal
for a vehicle with side logos like the interceptor and then record a commercial
for it. You could easily replace a commercial in the audio banks and replace a
decal on one of the vehicles. I'm pretty sure there is a Lik-A-Chik logo on one
of the Hurricane race boats, and I think there might be one on the O-Ring. Those
might be good candidates for replacement.

There is a lot to dissect here. First of all:

1. What is meant by Storefront?

2. I'm assuming the Graphic is the image in the menu and on the food wheel?

3. For Charred Hard I didn't suggest adding more items to the menu, just renaming the two burgers they already serve, because the fact that Freckle Bitch's and Charred Hard both serve The Fist and The Twins always bugged me.

4. What is meant by Use it as a restaurant? Is that not the same as the Storefront?

5. Yeah, I tried the Hotdog mod... In short, I had to reverify my game files and reinstall GOTR + all the extra mods I use.

Design Storefront, decal, and commercial?

I feel like I didn't make my initial mod suggestion very clear.

I want this Glowing Shopping Cart in front of these two stores.

I have played SR2 for years and never noticed the Randall's Pizza kiosk in the mall. Thank you for pointing that out.
Please ignore my suggestion to change the kiosk graphics.

The grapics on the front of the kiosk were what I meant by store front.

Yes, I did use the term graphic to refer to the memu board texture but I should have been clearer with my thought process.

I used Charred Hard Burgers and it's menu as an example to illustrate my thinking. I should have used Company of Gyros or Apollos instead. Sorry for the confusion that caused.

You might be able to rename the foods in that specific menu, but I don't know if it would break something.

Putting the carts in front of the restaurants can be done by just changing a couple of files. The only problem with that might be running
into some kind of trigger or memory
limit.

It should be doable. My concern would be memory.

There is no "pizza.smesh" or "fries.smesh" so they wouldn't have models in-game. But it means preload.tbl shouldn't need to be touched.

Adding another branch of Charred Hard should be fine. But I'm not sure about adding a whole new Pizza chain as well.

Having different names for Food Items would mean having duplicate versions of existing Food Items, just for the sake of a different name. It would be wasteful in terms of memory (and no-one likes food waste). This is why the names of existing Food Items are shared between stores.

I can have a deeper look into it when I have free time. 👍

It just sucks that there's nothing unique about Charred Hard. They put so much effort into making COG, PMPY, and Apollo's... Then just said fuck it and made Charred Hard serve the same burgers as Freckle Bitch's... Why didn't they just have more Freckle Bitch's locations instead of Charred Hard? Or had Lik-A-Chik locations that sell chicken food items?

Also I don't know if it's just my game or not, but none of COG's food items have physical models when eating them, so not having a physical pizza or fries model is completely fine.

Don't use these files alongside "Restored Train Stations" or "Ho-ing Locations Restored", or you'll have a bad time.

Also I don't know if it's just my game or not, but none of COG's food items have physical models when eating them, so not having a physical pizza or fries model is completely fine.
It could be your preload.tbl. I'll upload a preload.tbl with a fix for that Drink issue you were having. It might also fix this issue.

Update: I have uploaded the fixed GotR preload.tbl, but it doesn't fix the COG items because it's more focussed on crashing issues. But I have attached a custom version to this post which does fix the COG items.

It could, but there are no animations for it. So you'd just be eating the box itself.

items_3d.xtbl has multiple entries for food items but they use the same .smesh in a lot of cases. So all that would need doing is changing which .smesh is assigned to the item, then making sure it is preloaded in the preload.tbl. However, this risks introducing other preload.tbl related issues. Like the Big Swallow not loading in, resulting in a crash when it tries to ragdoll. So it would take some time to get the balance right so everything is working.

What I'm not sure of yet is which file actually stocks the food stores with the items found in items_3d.xtbl.
