Game refuses to show translated strings

Hi, I'm trying to translate the game and i did platform_PC_US.le_strings as a test to check if it will even work.
I loaded it into patch.vpp_pc file and booted the game, but instead of translated lines its just empty.

It looks like the game just refuses to load Cyrillic strings for some reason, even though there is an official russian translation in the game, which uses cyrillic letters too.

I would really appreciate it if someone could help me figure it out, point me where to look or what to do with it to make the game show strings.

Try using the command line command forcelang_ru when running the game and altering the platform_pc_RU.le_strings file. The game also compresses the unicode for the Russian text, so you may also need to alter the charlist_ru.txt file as well.

i tried basing it on ru localization file and setting, but it still gives empty text fields, while some of them does work. i tried changing exit game string - it shows. And "are you sure?" and it refuses to show

I've had the same issue with SR1 translation, but with SR1 all I had to do was to find the file that contains the fonts only, edit the fonts so all the characters show up (I'm not russian, I had to add only 5 characters for my language). Once I did that, the game showed everything correctly.

I also wanted to translated SR2 (Xbox 360 version) and I couldn't extract the files at all. Tried even the PC version, but the lestrings file is just giving me a lot of headache.
