Co-op partner pause menu

Not sure if anyone asked for this, anyway. It's for both SR3 and SR2, whenever any one, you or him/her/it press the menu button, it pauses the game for both players. Can you make it so the game is only paused if you press the pause button?

Most likely it's done the way it is to prevent the games from going out of sync while paused.
As well as if the partner wants to do a save, you want the game to be in a static state, not constantly changing.
(i.e. pausing the game stops everything from moving and leads to much safer saves)

I find it usefull the way it is, at least that`s just my opinion.

Actually, that's very reasonable now. Even with configurations, you don't want the screen to keep moving while you change AA and so on, causes graphical glitches and crashes.

Problem in SR2 is that, when someone needs to use the phone, it has to be paused.

As others have mentioned this is not practical for technical reasons (and there's no place where this functionality is exposed to something modders could access). We did try to make sure that, at a minimum, you weren't prevented from also accessing the pause menu while your partner was in that menu (lots of great timing bugs for that).

However, it really shouldn't be all that invasive to your play sessions. Everything that is gameplay and require a lot of access should be in the HUB (which doesn't pause the game in coop) and if you or your partner are manually saving all the time you probably don't need to. SR4 autosaves happen a lot. I would be curious to know why they're bringing up the pause menu so often that you find it to be such a problem.

Why must we take turns in bringing up the menu? One has the menu, the other only has a "Press tab to quit", he'd be bored to dead unless he probably alt+tabbed.

You don't have to take turns bringing up the pause menu. It should also indicate you can also press whatever button to access the pause menu. It did on the consoles as far as I recall. Regardless of what the text is, if you see the "Press Tab to Quit" screen, you should be able to access the pause menu as well and then when your partner exits the pause menu he'll be stuck at that pause screen you were just at.

The two different screens are to indicate the players actual intentions. If we immediately placed both players into the full pause menu we wouldn't be able to easily determine when both players desired to go back into gameplay since once the other player was forced into the menu who knows what they might have decided to start doing when the first player decides to exit it. And if either player could exit it for both players, you would run into cases where it was impossible to kick an annoying quickmatch partner.

I am actually able to start up the menu even if my partner has it? Strange, it's true that I don't remember or even tried. Next time, I'll try this on SR2 and SR3.
