Same shit happened with me but with SR2.Since I have moved from XP to 7 I realised that alt tabbing crashes the game and I found that if I alt tabbed while on the pause screen such as map it wouldn't crash.You could try the same thing on 8 but I don't guarantee that it will work.

This mod doesn't change notoriety spawns.It just makes random waves of different types of enemies come up after you,at random time intervals,only if your notoriety is level 1 or lower.

I can help you with that,but you need to give some more details for example what frequency do you prefer for the encounters and if you want them to happen while you are on notoriety or not.
