By default, there are no external xtbl files; they're stored inside the vpp_pc files. Don't worry about that. What sort of "stats" are we talking about?

But would that let you alter them when on foot only? Can it switch configurations on the fly?

I think you've made my point. Calling them "franchise zombies" tells me that you consider them strongly connected to other games in the franchise despite their differences.

Well, I can't argue with your points about GTA 3. :) Saints Row 3 has similar mechanics, but it's really quite goofy compared to 2. And 2 was already pretty silly compared to 1. I don't mean that getting goofier is better or worse, just different. Saints Row as a franchise has never really had...
