Saints Row Prequel in pitching phase (Saints Row '77)

I get what you're saying, but... Agents Of Mayhem was supposed to be a new IP, but they dressed it up a little too like Saints Row with Purple being a primary theme, and the Fleur De Lis and everything... People were literally calling it Saints Row 5 for a long while after its release... Even if this new Multiplayer Game doesn't have Saints Row in the title, it sounds like it's gonna be heavily influenced by it, and that alone is enough to give long-time fans too much hope and expectations for an experience we'll just never see again.
Well if you think about it, that's all volition has for a popular IP. They had the Punisher and Red Faction and both were not nearly as popular as Saints Row. Agents of Mayhem could have used its own IP but it wouldn't have nearly as many players. Not to mention that everyone loved customization and if you're making a SR game without customization, it won't be fun for everyone. AGM could have been more if it was a new universe like LA Noire where you play as Law Enforcement instead of a deranged sociopath criminal. Kind of like how SR Undercover where you play as an undercover officer to destroy the saints. Instead, they could have actually made it a Saints Row game and have you take out the gangs instead of leading one. That way, it could be a proper spinoff that doesn't tie directly into the canon.

I knew this prequel was fucked from the start
Lowkey I knew it was fucked since it was "announced". One thing I know about Deep Silver is that they love secrecy more than anything, and I feel like this being taken to Reddit before it was even greenlit burnt a lot of bridges.
Even if Stockman tries to keep the game close to SR1's Multiplayer experience, the parent company will step in to cut, cancel, sensor, and streamline as much of the game as possible to appeal to an audience that's already drowning in generic Multiplayer content.
He is probably developing this as an indie project thought. Its just about securing funding, and from what I know and heard, he does seem like a type to prioritize creative liberties, so I doubt he'd take money from someone with too many demands.

He worked on Saints Row 1's Multiplayer, I think one of the lead devs on it, and has great fondness for the game too, so I think that adds a lot of context where his priorities stand.

there's something about one hit wonders and them either quitting or milking the same franchise, tho calling volition a one hit wonder is somewhat disingenuous, Red Faction and Punisher were also popular, just not as popular as Saints Row
