Voting for This year's Steam awards is live now. And one of the categories is "labor of love", which is reserved only for the games that are supported lovingly by their developers years after the game's initial release.

If that sounds familiar to you then you're probably already thinking about the miraculous SAINTS ROW 2 PC PATCH which is being gifted to us through the pure dedication, love and very hard work of DSVolition, our very own Minimaul and previous domain owner-promoted Volition employee SR. Community Manager IdolNinja.

Volition have spent ELEVEN YEARS hunting down the source code so they could make this patch possible. It is very rare that a game studio would even consider doing something this wonderful, which is why we need to give Volition the praise they deserve for all their efforts.
Volition have always been VERY awesome to us; be it their neat behind-the-scenes showcases on Steams, releasing an ISO of a cancelled Saints Row game, or just their overall constant efforts to please us and give us joy.
This could be the only chance a Saints Row game has at winning an award: let's not let the down!

To vote: CLICK HERE and you'll see a banner on the Steam awards with NOMINATE THIS GAME FOR AN AWARD, click on it and vote LABOR OF LOVE for SAINTS ROW 2 and you're good to go.

If you're thinking "But the patch isn't out yet, so I'll wait till next year to vote!" Then you need to get your head out of your ass. We may not have any idea on when the patch will be released, but that does not mean we should wait until next year to vote for Saints Row 2. Keep in mind that we AREN'T voting "best patch awards" -THIS IS FOR SUPPORT, which Volition have CONFIRMED we will be getting sometime in the nebulous future, and which Volition have always given us in some form or another.

On top of that the Saints Row Franchise, as well as Agents of Mayhem and all of its DLC are heavily discounted during the Autumn Sale until the 3rd of December, so if you have yet to pick up one of those but always wanted to give them a try, now would be a great time.

The patch isn't out yet. Until it is, the game hasn't been lovingly touched by the developers for years now. It will definitely qualify for next year's award, but it's facetious to nominate it for this years award.

That's not how this works. they seem to already be working hard on it. Haven't you seen IdolNinja's Twitter account?

Considering the patch will be released as a new game on Steam, next year, SR2 fix will be eligible for all the categories, and not just Labour of Love. The point of all of us voting for it is that we have one category that we all know we can team up and actually get it to be in the finals. Now we have the best chances of actually accomplishing something, because next year, someone will start an argument if we should vote for best gameplay, or best story, or best nostalgia and we'll divide the votes between the three and we'll end up with no nomination.

SR2 fix is being worked on by two people simply by their passion towards the game, we must appreciate that, and let their management (THQN, Deep Silver, etc.) know that we still love the shit out of this game and appreciate it enough to nominate it for game of the year, 11 years after it's original release. Maybe then they'll actually consider remastering it, like every reply to a Volition tweet demands.
